(9383).
All
of WFTD Profits go back into Supporting "People with Disabilities"
through various Organizations in Whistler and BC and across Canada.
So
Far, we have made donations to the BC Disabled Ski Team,
BC Rehab and the Canadian Forces "Soldiering On Program".
Leaving a "True Lasting Legacy"
for a Community and People with Disabilities.
Hugh
became Deaf in 2001 due to NF2
Neurofibromatosis, Type 2. which gave him the idea to start up a
web site to promote Whistler as an "Accessible Destination"
for the whole World to come and visit no matter their Abilities
or Disabilities.
Our
focus is to provide Accessibility and Information to people with
disabilities and their Families from all over the World.
Giving
everyone an opportunity to take part in all Whistler has to offer
with Recreation, Sports, Arts, Nightlife, Dinning and Activities.
We
will provide you with the logistical support, assistance, care needed
during your stay and we will connect you to companies who will provide
you with recreation options need or adaptive sports programs, as
well as access information to entertainment, dining and accommodations
specific to your well being needs which and a whole lot more.
We
are also a Resource for the Community by providing;
1)
Tourism Staff at Hotels, Information centres, Travel Agents,
Government Agencies etc with a quick reference guide to assist clients
who have a disability & are visiting Whistler.
2) Assisting the Temporarily Disabled who have been injured
in a Biking or Ski Accident to find information.
3)
Senior Citizen's who may need assistance on their Trip.
4) Provides the only Resource for Business Owners to Register
their Access Information for the Disabled.
The
type of Disability is not important as "Whistler for the
Disabled" covers information relating to all those with Disabilities.
Including the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Blind, Visually Impaired, Mobility
Restricted, person suffering from an Illness or a Temporarily Disabled
Individual due to a sports injury just to name a few.
